Keith
Evans is based in North Wales in the UK. For many years
he was a portrait and landscape painter in oils, pastel
and watercolour. He had several successful exhibitions,
selling work to private and corporate buyers in the UK
and Europe.
In
the late 1980s he began to use photography to augment
sketches prior to painting. This interest grew as the
challenge of capturing what was actually in front of the
camera became greater than interpreting the subject with
pigments. Since 1999, Keith has moved almost exclusively
into photography
Keith
specialises in fine art studio work in black and white.
The play of light on skin is the driving force behind
his work, much of which is based on the projection of
linear shapes onto the curvature of the natural form.
When working in colour, projected colours often replace
the linear shapes. In all of his studio work Keith’s
main objective is to control the light in order to
isolate the main elements of the subject.
